Known for its unique tree-climbing lions, vibrant flamingos, breathtaking vistas, and its central soda-ash lake, Manyara is ideal for a brief visit.
Situated on the route from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara is a beautifully scenic park. It boasts noteworthy birdlife, significant elephant populations, and numerous baboons. The lake itself occupies a large portion of the park, with wildlife concentrated along the narrow strip of land along its shores.
Typically included as a quick afternoon game drive en route to Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara is certainly worth the stop if you’re passing by. However, it doesn’t compete with the more renowned safari destinations in terms of wildlife density. Nonetheless, if your journey continues to Ngorongoro and Serengeti, you will encounter abundant wildlife there, making Manyara a charming, albeit brief, addition to your safari itinerary.
